Castlewood's MR product, named ORB, uses 3-1/2" removable media with a capacity of 2.2 GB, more than any other product in its category. Additionally, at 12.2 MB/second maximum sustained data transfer rate - the fastest transfer rate of any removable media product available today - ORB is completely "video ready". The new drive also boasts a substantial increase in reliability over competitive products, with an estimated mean-time-between-failure rating 50 percent better than the competition. And, because ORB removable media drives are true hard drives, they outperform other removable media drives, such as magneto optical, high-density floppies, optical DVD and tape. ORB disks can be used in a variety of applications that require storage of large amounts of large files and digital data, such as music and video editing, graphic design, publishing and multimedia presentations. IT markets are expected to use ORB drives as a way to easily and quickly back up data, and increase PC storage. Also available are ORB Tools, a feature-rich suite of functions designed to help manage your ORB disks and make backups as intuitive for the novice as the professional. ORB Tools feature: Write Protect, Disk Partitioning and Formatting, Set ORB as Fixed or Removable, a file archive called "tracker", ORB Disk Duplicator, SCSI Mounter, and other useful maintenance functions. The ORB tools Backup Suite includes 1-Click Backup, Volume Copy, Image Copy and Professional Backup. For the novice, ORB's one-step backup sets a new standard for thoroughness, simplicity and security by automating system disk and file backups. Also, ORB drives use a new design, called "headerless ID", thus eliminating the need for disk formatting. ORB is available as both external and internal models, with the following interfaces: External SCSI, External Parallel Port, Internal SCSI, Internal EIDE, External USB, IEEE 1394 FireWire, USB.

- Very good product, I am very happy with it
It is a good product; just wish more people had it. I have used the Zip drives and I must say I like the ORB much more. It seems faster (USB) than the ZIP and makes allot less noise. You can also throw the drive in your backpack without damaging, just like the ZIP. The disc on the other hand is a bit more delicate. ... Read More
