6000657 is a PCI 2.1 compliant DVD playback card. Its main functions are to decode elementary streams of audio and video data from a DVD and provide high quality analog audio to a sound card. It also incorporates AC-3 audio via the S/PDIF connector located on the rear of the DL2 Chassis. The DVD stream that the card decodes can consist of MPEG2 video, MPEG1 video, AC-3 and other audio streams. DVD features such as sub picture decoding and seamless branching are part of it's design. The Chromatics DVD controller card is designed to send uncompressed or decoded DVD video across a feature connector cable to the Unidirectional VMI interface. This design architecture allows the board to work with video enabled graphics controllers that have native MPEG2 video support (720×480 video window). The bracket has no external jacks, all data is passed via the PCI bus and the internal cabling of the DL2 to the jacks located on the rear of the DL2 chassis.
Video Decoding: MPEG-1: MPEG-1 CBR (constant bit rates). MPEG-1 Video CD. MPEG-2: MPEG-2 Main Profile at Main Level (MP@ML). Up to 9.8 Mbits/sec, dependent on x86 clock rates. CBR (constant bit rate) and VBR (variable bit rate). Fully compliant decoding (IEEE 1180-compliant Inverse DCT to ensure crisp picture quality with minimal noise, and exact motion compensation for artifact free motion).
Video Display: Full screen viewing. NTSC (525/60) TV video output. 720×480 picture size. 29.97 fps. 16:9 aspect ratio content display. Letterbox for standard TV 4:3 screens using letter box filter. Unchanged on 16:9 wide screen TV.
4:3 aspect ratio content display. Unchanged on standard TV 4:3 or windscreen TV 16:9 screen. Still-frame MPEG-2 I-frame display. 3:2 pull down support (24 fps display on 30 fps interlaced monitor). Component digital (YCrCb) output for high quality display. User-adjustable color/saturation, hue/tint, brightness and contrast. Digital YUV video output via feature connector to external graphics chips.
