Rating: - external speaker deciding factor for me
Bottom line for me..over 40 and just a girl...not an audiophile at all... the external speaker was the deciding factor...anyone like me who does not like to use earphones for will love this... the sound is more than adequate for me..and I can listen to it in the house, car etc without any extra wires/adapters, car kits , boom boxes etc... I will get a car charger and of course if I ever decide to exercise ( ha ha) I will use the earphones...sure that little bright green Ipod is very cool... but for me to enjoy it I would have had to invest in all kinds of extra gadgets when my Zen X-Fi is all I need... a few notes :
*I would have bought the regular 16gb Zen if it had had the external speaker..
*I don't need the X-FI whatever that is, nor the wireless lan... the 8mg
without the wireless probably would have been adequate for me but I
wanted the 16gb
*no problems at all loading cds, and barely read any instructions.. used
windows media player not the Creative ... not sure why but will try the
other next time..but the sync was no problem...
*I have not tried to buy any music or videos yet so I can't speak to the
software issues...
*my videos from my computer look really good on the Zen.. and my photos
*navigation is not hard..I've never had an mp3 player so I have nothing
to compare it to.. like anything else once you use it a few times you
get used to it...
Rating: - exceptional product
This is a great device. I use it at ballgames because of the FM radio and the fact that it fits comfortably in my pocket. The videos play well and the available storage and SD card slot means I have plenty of ways to carry my picture along to share. The ear buds have a great sound because of the X-FI technology. I have been very pleased with this and all of the products I have purchased from Creative. Creative is a very economical alternative to the I-pod.
Rating: - Counterintuitive
I have never in my life had to read the instructions to figure out how to adjust volume..until now, and that was one of the easier features to figure out. I'll admit that I am not a computer buff, but my bf is, and not even he could figure this thing out.
The software is another thing I had probs with. It loaded half the time, but I was never able to transfer lists I made on the computer to the player. I was also unable to make lists on the player manually, so the music was disorganized. I'd have to sift through the list alphabetically to get to another tune I wanted to hear at the time..very irritating
Oh ya, and the volume. One thing is for sure...and that is that you wont go deaf by listening to music with this. ALL of my other players had higher volume than this even old CD players
Very complicated and not fully functional
Big disappointment
Rating: - Disappointing audio quality
Very disappointing unit. Neither the Bass Boost nor equalizer settings worked at all. Regardless of whether those functions were switched on or off the audio flowing through the headphones sounded very similar in range to that of the the external speaker on the back of the unit. Not recommended.
