Rating: - OLDER TECH, BUT USEFUL
There is not much demand for cassette players in the world of CD's, mP3's, etc. However, if you have material on cassettes (I have teaching tapes that I made, and ones that I purchased), it is good to have available a reliable product from the prototypical manufacturer. This unit is handy, light-weight, and utilitarian enough for me to recommend. The price is acceptable, as well.

This player works reasonably well, but has one design flaw. The battery compartment door is flimsy and does not stay closed well, even brand new. The playback becomes intermittent when the door moves even a little. The only reason I need this machine (I have two due to battery door failure on the otherwise operable first one) is because I enjoy listening to recorded books, many of which are still only available on cassette.
Rating: - TV channels a plus, but lousy durability
While I liked this product shortly after I got it, the battery door was flimsy enough not to last long. Now I can't get it to stay shut with the battery in it.
The use of only one AA battery instead of 2 is a plus if you are using NiMH batteries, but a minus if you are using other rechargeables -- the batteries won't last long.
I'm currently shopping for a player by a different brand, but a cheapo $9 Jensen one I got was even worse (actually far worse) than this.

Sound is good, but the carrying case is pretty flimsey and difficult to change tapes when out for a jog. Sony quality on sound, though.
