Rating: - Incredible monitor
I bought this monitor based on my impressions while looking at it in person at various stores. Then I read excellent reviews and made the purchase. The monitor proved to be an excellent performer. The image is crisp and bright. It's big enough to watch movies on, have multiple windows, and read text from few feet away.
The HDMI connection works much better than VGA on my computer. It's good that the HDMI cable is included in the package since these cables are expensive - $50 at staples was the cheapest.
Anyway, I highly recommend this monitor. The only thing I had to do was lower the brightness down as it is very very bright and may eventually hurt my eyes. Currently, it's at 85% and the colors are still exceptionally vivid.
Oh, and I bought it here from Amazon. The delivery was fast and the product was in perfect condition.
Rating: - Poor quality control
The screen suddenly goes to sleep every 5-10 minutes for no reason, and won't wake up. Occasionally I could wake it up by unplugging the video cable from my desktop, but even this would only work for a few minutes. I was completely disappointed, and returned it to Amazon. Amazon made my return very easy, no question asked. Thanks. They must have had a lot of such returns. HP should stop selling this defective model until the problems are corrected and proven. Their poor quality control has wasted three weeks of my time.
Rating: - Outstanding product, super sharp
My interest in photography and the digital revolution in that field promted me to get this very large and very clear monitor. It has also come in very handy in my business office, especially when giving computer based presentations to my clients who like me are well over 50.
Rating: - Great even for Graphic Artists
I bought this one as my main monitor (set of 2) to have the work in it and leave the palettes in the other one. I was looking for a monitor with glossy screen finish because color and contrast are a lot richer and graphics output tends to be more accurate (after calibration of course) and consistent with media intended to be printed. The monitor really looks nice. It's stylish and brings a lot of modern looks to your desktop. and the adjustable angles and height are a very nice feature. Mine is being handled via VGA and keeping in mind signal's quality 's not gonna be the same as with DVI (not to say HDMI) it still outputs a really nice picture. (this one doesn't come with DVI input so be prepared to buy an HDMI compatible video card if you really want to take advantege of this monitor's technology.
It comes with a CD that includes the pivoting function's drivers and some other things but if you update it you'll get a really functional calibrating software that (in my opinion) works really well (unless you are a "purist", in that case you should buy a pro color calibrating software reanging from $200 to "a lot of money")
Finally. Quite a good product from HP with nice size and a really nice price. The next one in the scale (24 inches wide-screen) is almost $200 more expensive so this one is the perfect mid-range monitor even for the "more than average" user. GO GET THIS ONE!!
