Rating: - Overpriced and Limited
I've owned all of the Nokia internet device series and they all had faults with most of them being corrected as time goes on. The N800 had serious internet connectivity issues (dropped connections without reason, etc) and the N810 has the following faults:
* The GPS is a good addition but is slow as molasses. The only way to lock on to a signal is to stay still for at least 2 minutes and hope it catches a strong signal. Want directions to your location? Cough up another $150 or so in addition to the $400 you already paid.
* As with the N800, the camera is near worthless and generally only usable with Skype and associated programs. Don't want Skype or the onboard chat program? Tough. This is Linux and you can't just load up Windows Live. Using the keyboard and the camera and the keyboard for chatting means you'll be out of the picture as you fiddle with the keyboard.
* Keyboard is a great idea but poorly executed. At least the Samsung Q1 has a split qwerty keyboard as does this one but the Nokia's keyboard is poorly placed with keys too close to the bottom of the screen area. Miskeying is a common problem.
On the plus side, it does boot quickly and the new interface is nice, but the price is hardly justified over what you get with the already existing N800.

I think Nokia figured it out. I don't want my phone to have a big screen and a qwerty keyboard. I want my phone to be as small as possible in case I want to go out without a giant lump in my pocket. I also dont want to lug around a laptop just so when I'm traveling I can pump out email, surf the web, and use skype. So nokia bult this little marvel. I also think it's better than the iPod touch because:
1. It has the keyboard. Try writing emails with the touch screen it's annoying
2. I can use my Verizon phone to access the web on the run. But Verizon does charge a $15 tethering fee and $25 data fee per month. jeez.
3. GPS was a great idea. I like it better then my dedicated device and it fits right in front of my gauges without any annoying mount. I'm trying the trial right now and I think I will buy it (giving directions is a feature that costs $125 more).
Battery life is impressive. Screen is awesome. OS is refreshingly stable.
It does have some annoying quirks: Sometimes I can't get the on screen keyboard to activate when I do actually want to use it. Most videos I download are smooth but some are choppy making me think that the processor is to blame. And I would like to see a browser on par with apple's safari.
But great engineering... Thanks Nokia!
Rating: - Not good enough
Doesn't run the Java-based realtime stock quotes website I bought it for. Seemed a little slow. Too small to use without the stylus...you become one of those squinting, stylus-pointing Blackberry-type people. The unit is well-built and a nice gadget, just not as quick and easy as a PDA, or as versatile as a PC. I replaced it with a 2.7lb small Vaio laptop.

This device is truly amazing. Its capabilities range from simple media jobs, to complex business applications. I had mine on the train a few days ago, and from getting on I had reviewed the status of my portfolio, checked the news, and was watching a movie I had put on the device the night earlier. The movie didn't interest me much, but a girl that I saw out of the corner of my eye did. I quickly launched my instant messenger and IMed my friends asking for advice. They had nothing. I remembered that the device had an application called "sketcher" I booted this up, and scribbled a heart, plus some text. The story ended happily. While this might not be as powerful as something like a laptop, it definitely is a buy in my opinion. Its versatility and portability shocked me. It is the only device I'd buy which fits in my hand which can play movies, use the web, chat, take pictures, watch movies and assist a bachelor.
