  • Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Extremely happy with my Custom-3
So I've been looking for that perfect pair of IEMs and finally, I believe I found them. I'm no audiophile, but sound-wise, the Custom-3 are by far the best IEMs I've ever owned (previously had the Sony EX71, Shure 210, IE Hi.fi 5 EB, new Apple In-Ear amongst others). Voices, mids are clear and bass is very tight and quite strong. The music feels very warm and envelopes you quite nicely. Not quite the head pounding bass of the UE 5EB, but still very very good. It's funny because I've always thought of myself as being a bass head, but after wearing the UE, I've realized that there is such a thing as too much bass. I can wear the Custom-3 for hours and not get tired.

It was initially tricky to get a good seal on these, but once you figure it out, it's relatively quick to put them on (repetition helps!). They are pretty comfortable, but not as comfy as the Shure black olives. Word of caution: these things go really deep in your ear canal, scary at times, but once in, they are completely flush against your ear.

For those of you who are wondering, yes, the Shure black olives do fit on the stems; however, in my case, the IEM were no longer flush against my ear and popped out a little. Furthermore, the ear buds kept slowing creeping out over time which was a constant source of annoyance (got rid of the olives). The last point I want to make is that even though I used the Med size Klipsch silicone tips, the Med size olives were way too big and had to use the Small size instead.

Cable noise is really really loud; don't expect to be able to move around too much while wearing these.

All in all, I'm keeping these, they are great at work, home, plane trips, etc. Absolutely love them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My favorite Headphone ever.
I have much experience in Headphones. I have listened to and owned many high-end headphones and in-ear monitors (earphones). The Klipsch Image x10 are my favorite of the bunch. They offer the best package deal that I have heard. Etymotics may be more clear, but at the sacrifice of sound stage and bass. The super.fi 5 pro and triple.fi 10 pro have great bass and sound stage, but they lack in comfort and convenience. Shure earphones offer comfort and good separation, but they do not feature the warm and pleasing sound signature as the Image x10.

These earphones have it all: comfort, sound quality, strong and accurate bass, style, sound stage, separation, clarity, and so much more.

I'd say these could only be faulted for the lack of replaceable cables (which should not be a problem with normal use) and slight micro-phonics in the cables (which can be reduced by clipping the cables to your shirt).

I would advise anyone who values quality, comfort, usability, and MUSIC to get a pair.

At $200 they are a steal!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - OMG
OMG ... that was basically my first impression when I put them on. Having used Shure headphones for a while, I'm blown away by the incredible sound these Klipsch put out. The bass is great, way better than Shure's, the mids are great and the highs are good, not great, sometimes high's sound to "pitchy" for my taste. The carrying case included is very high quality (on par with the headphones), only disappointment is that I tried to fit my iPod Video (5th gen) with the iSkin cover on, and it basically didn't close up when I stored the headphones, but no big deal if you have an MP3 player with a thin cover. Fitting will take a while, it took me around 15-20 mins to get the right ear gel and wire positioning for optimal sound. Once that was done, putting them on was a breeze, but be sure no one else messes with your wire position, like my wife did, because putting them back to the original position will set you back a couple of mins. All in all, great set of headphones with great sound, comfort, accessories and quality. Trust me, they'll blow you away!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Excellent but not worth the price
Klipsch Custom-3 In-Ear Noise Isolating Earphone
I have always been a huge fan of Klipsch speakers and still own an outstanding pair of speakers. I recently bought a SONY MP3 player and was looking for a more comfortable pair of earphones. The great reviews for sound and comfort on the Klipsch earphones encouraged me to make the purchase.
These are definitely much more comfortable than the plastic ones that come with the MP3. However, I am surprised - and probably shouldn't be - that the sound quality is not that much better in the Klipsch set than was afforded by the original SONY plastic earphones.
My conclusion is that I could have saved a great deal of money and simply upgraded the SONY earphones to a more comfortable pair and would have had the same great sound quality. That is my recommendation to anyone else considering purchasing new earphones.
