I'm an old man and have resisted the ipod for some time now. I love my music loud and have been deprived of tons of my cd's and good stereo system for some time now. I purchased the ipod because we're moving soon and I'll have room to set up all kinds of LOUD stereo equipment. I can't wait. I've been loading the ipod furiously with cd's and buying i tunes of lots of stuff I've long wanted but never got around to buying. The sound quality is terrific, the music is cheap to purchase and the tons of accessories that are available make the ipod a must have, especially given the number of albums I can store on it. I got the 80 gig classic. The way I see it, I should have done this a long time ago. It's easy to use and super convenient. I'll most likely buy another one for my wife. This is too much fun ! Don't be an old fart, BUY THAT ipod DUDE !
Rating: - I LOVE my Apple iPod Classic 160G Black (6th Generation) !!!!
Having been a Creative Zen Vision and Vision(M) customer, I was a little hesitant to buy an Apple iPod Classic 160GB. I read a lot of customer reviews at various online retail sites and heard some less than positive things about this player. I have been nothing but thrilled with this player since I opened the box!! I LOVE the 160GB disk space. Compared to the 30GB size of my previous Creative Zen Vision and Vision(M) it's really no comparison at all. I have had 3 of my Creative Vision(M)s have hard drive failure since I've had them, and Creative's Customer Support is VERY POOR! I have had NO problems with my Apple iPod Classic whatsoever. It loads all of my music, videos and Podcasts so easily using iTunes. The interface is so easy to use and it starts up and shuts down in a flash. My Creative's take forever to start up compared to the iPod. The battery life is fantastic and the sound and video quality are superb!! I have to admit that from now on it's Apple all the way and Creative as lost a customer for good!!! Buy it, you'll LOVE IT!!!!
Rating: - Awesome!
I just purchased the 160GB model iPod Classic. I have no idea how I got along without this thing. Music, audio books, videos, movies, photos, etc. And the range of items for it is great - that is what finally swayed me from buying the Zune.
A must have for today's world. Just don't go broke on iTunes with all that is available there...

I was going to purchase an 8 gb iPod for my daughter. She's 2 ½ and has scads of CD's she just LOVES. It was getting to be quite a burden carrying them around, to the car, the house, etc., and she plays with them, scratching them up. I figured an 8 gb iPod would be perfect to manage her music.
I had an older 20 gb iPod that was starting to fill up, I was thinking of purchasing an 80 gb, but figured they'd be too expensive. But after pricing the 8 gb (around $200) and the 80gb 6th Gen iPod at about $229, it didn't make any sense to purchase the smaller one. I figured I could purchase the 80 gb for myself, and reformat the old 20 for my daughter's music.
I read the reviews here on Amazon, and was slightly wary about the 6th gen, but after much research decided to go ahead with the purchase.
It arrived fairly quickly, it brand new just as advertised. It's much sleeker than my old one and I really like the newer interface. Just like a previous reviewer, the action on the click wheel could be a little better, but it's not what I would consider a negative.
The video screen is fantastic. I watch my favorite podcast (TikiBarTV) on it while commuting on BART and it's more than I had hoped for in terms of clarity. The interface is clearer and easy to understand and I now prefer the album view when choosing songs and albums.
I purchased an armband holder for it as I ride my bicycle to work and it's really everything I was hoping for, if not more. I highly recommend it, and for me, 80 gigs will hold all of my music for years to come.
The only real trick was in figuring out how to maintain two different iPods with two different sets of music with iTunes. It took some doing, but in the end (seriously, it only took me about an hour to figure out and perfect the process) it worked out great. Now I have my iPod with everything on it, including my daughter's music. Now she can have her music when she's traveling with Mom (I added mom's music on it, too).
And now when we travel together, we only have to have my iPod, because it holds everything, so no need for two iPods for those long trips, and no more CD's littering up the car, either.
