Rating: - Mixed reviews - one is great, the other died
This is our first and only experience with an MP3 player so far, so I have nothing to compare it to.
We ordered two of the Muvos a few months ago, one for the kids and one for us. Our main use is for audiobooks (esp. for the kids) and language learning.
We were immediately impressed with the sound quality. We could use headphones, or plug them in to speakers anywhere in the house. The single AAA battery lasted 6-8 hours or more, which was great for traveling by car or plane.
The Creative Player software was easy to install, is VERY easy to use and works like a dream. Using Audible with the Muvo device setup was a snap, and so fast to download everything onto the Muvo!
The buttons were a bit confusing at first because the screen is so small & you use just one button to navigate; so until you get used to it, it's hard to remember how to get to the various menu items. And once we learned we can use Creative Player to move files & folders around, that was a big help!
Now for the downside:
After less than 3 months of moderate use, one of the Muvos will no longer power on. The LCD screen still lights up when plugged into the USB port of our computer, but other than that we cannot get it to turn on. (Of course we tried new batteries several times)
So we are waiting to see how Creative will respond. We were just about to order a couple more (so each child could have their own) plus I was going to order one for a friend who tried mine out. Now I am holding off until I see if Creative will resolve the problem.
So I would give the Muvo a "5 star" rating, except for the SIGNIFICANT fact that one no longer works.
Rating: - disappointed
I really looked forward to using this product and it has been a real pain from the beginning. It has now died completely and shuts off as soon as I start it, similiar to other reviews. Not sure how much effort to put into fixing, if possible. May just junk it. Be forewarned...piece of junk.

I love this product. It plugs right in to my USB drive and I am able to transfer songs to the player and also take my voice recordings and burn them on to a CD. It is simple, fast and very user friendly!
Rating: - Update of "Beware before purchase": Solution found
Update of what I wrote below: I found the only solution via email from Creative. It was to reformat it. If you experience my problem, you can get help from Creative free online within a month or two, or also free via e-mail help. My situation was to reformat it, thus losing the contents; of course other problems can exist with other solutions. I like it. Both Amazon and Creative were cooperative, easy to deal with. I raise my evaluation from 1, to 4 stars.
Original evaluation: I bought this MP3 player in December 07, and was went thru the process of returning it to Amazon just after getting it. But just before returning it I tried once more to correct the problem with a telephone conversation with Creative. The second guy seemed to correct the problem of my player indicating "no music", while Media Player indicated it was full. So I didn't return it.
I had Spanish learning material on it, and when I tried to play it in March 08, the same three tracks played over and over, despite all the material I had downloaded appeared on Creative MediaSource 5 (this shows what is downloaded onto the player).
So I called Creative again, and they told me I would have to pay for help online, and if I had to return it, it would cost me $25 handling fee. These fees would amount to what I had paid for the player. They suggested I find the solution via free e-mail websites. Of course the websites indicated the problem as being common, with a simple solution, but I was never able to fix the problem.
Besides investing in the cost of the MP3, I spent 20 hours or more trying to fix this "common, easy to fix problem", which makes me feel stupid for wasting so much time and trouble (like spending hundreds of dollars to fix problems on a car, hoping each expense would make it good, only to eventually draw the line and dump it).
Having said all this, I have no other to compare it with; hopefully other brands are better.
