Rating: - Good MP3 player, Bad Headphones...
The MP3 player is better then expected.. REALLY easy to figure out.. don't really need instructions either..very simple. I recommend it.. but the only thing I didn't like about the whole thing were the headphones.. they're great head phones but the only thing that wasn't great is that one side of the head phone is good.. but the other side is connected to the cord like 3 inches below that one and it's very uneven and uncomfortable.. so I suggest you get different headphones. My sisters boyfriend got the exact same mp3 player like a week before me and he loves it.. but the same thing happened to his headphones... i dont suggest trying to fix them if you're planning on using them either because he broke his.. other then that.. it's GREAT!
Rating: - good price, very basic functionality
Good basic mp3 player if you know what to expect. Reasonable price and durable: flash memory less prone to damage, less than half the price of 2 gig iPod nano. Performance and functionality between that of shuffle and 2 gig nano, can be enhanced by workarounds.
No indexing system: songs listed by file name alone. But you can put similar songs in unlimited amount of folders (limit 500 tracks per folder). In a positive light, no need to bother with iTunes etc.
Limited playlist options: songs can be added while playing to player's only "favorites" folder. Again, work around by using folders, renaming tracks to add numbers sequentially so tracks are played in desired order. Many larger capacity iPod competitors are also somewhat lacking in this respect. USB is rather slow.
Easy connectivity: USB plug in and drag and drop, doubles as storage device. Good battery life and convenient AAA alkaline. Compatible with a limited range of generic accesories. Voice recorder can be useful
In conclusion, handy for bringing music with you. Not quite the best for dorm/house party soundtrack. For that purpose a computer trumps even the best iPod anyway.
Rating: - Good Purchase Overall
I purchased this MuVo after dropping my first MP3 player (a model of Ilo no longer made or sold) into a cup of coffee, and I think I can honestly say it was the best purchase I made for my money.
First, let me say that the MuVo is tiny. Like a Zippo lighter, and so cute. If cute isn't your thing, then think about the portability. It fits in the change pocket with no discomfort.
Second, the plug-and-play function is very very nice. Also the fact that you can drag and drop your music folders into it instead of going through software is nice. In fact, I would recommend not using the software provided at all. The player works fine without it, and it makes music organization much easier.
My absolute favorite feature is the fact that you can organize your music into self-named folders. The fact that the Ilo software insisted on sorting it itself was a source of constant annoyance, and many of my self-named files were lost. You can build your own playlists very easily with this player.
Honestly, if you're not techno-savvy, you should buy this player. And if you are techno-savvy, well, we all like things easier every now and then.
I rated this product at a 4 because of the accompanying software is absolute crap and I was very disappointed in it.
