Dimensions 15.4 x 17.7 x 16.8 in. (WxHxD); weighs 28.2 pounds
Rating: - Best Machine for Students!
Width 15.4 x Height 17.7; Depth f/wall (w/lid open full & feeder attached & back panel [to undo paper jams] open )21"; Height (w/lid open full)24"
Stationary platen for color/b&w scanning, b&w copying. Built in handles on bottom, for carrying. Collates or does 2 on 1 page.
Software: Comes with image, page manager,e-mail, PDF,OCR,fax, scanning --all you need.
Standalone AIO, but can use with PC. Just out of the box, I scanned 35pgs into a multi-page PDF 400dpi in about 1 min, just dropped into feeder & hit Scan on my laptop. Saved it as a file.
Can print f/ e-mail or fax from PC.
Needs expensive proprietary wireless printer port, but I just use a 20ft USB 2.0 cable to switch from PC or Laptop, which hangs on a sticky hook on side of machine.
Press a button for it to sleep, or it'll sleep in a few mins. Very Quiet, wakes up fast ready to print/copy/scan.
ADF and auto-duplex is great. ADF can be used in scanning, printing, faxing.
I don't mess with the auto-fax answer feature, but I turn it on if I'm not there & expecting a fax. Voice machine kicks on after 4 rings or if it is a fax, it'll receive.
Great for students (a laser printer solo is ~100US anyways & the cart is only 70us) but I'm sure a small office will find it useful, esp. if they want to buy the wireless print/fax server.
I have XP sp2: e6420 on PC, amd Turion-32 laptop, 2gig ram on each.
Rating: - Do not buy this device if you don't have a dedicated phone line
If you do not have a dedicated phone line you cannot receive phone calls without the fax interrupting the call which is incredibly annoying. I called Canon and that's how the machine is suppose to work. So you either use it manually or don't receive incoming calls or get a dedicated phone line. A truly ridiculous result for a personal fax machine! If I had known in advance I would not have purchased the device.
Rating: - Best Printer I'ver Ever Owned
I bought the MF4150 mainly for printing (I have fax machines, scanners)
I was very interested in the two sided print feature since I have a print project that comes up ever September that requires a ton of two sided printing. Unfortunatley I couldn't find many reviews where they reported on the two sided print features.
I've owned this for about 6 weeks but the project finaly came up and I really got to put it to the test. It will more than cut my time in half, The two sided printing works flawlessly. So far a few thousand two sided pages and not one jam.
Can't comment on the other features since I do not use them
Rating: - Works great
I've had it about a month now... works great. Copies, prints, and scans are quick and clean. The duplex mode is fast. You have to look for it, but there is an "econo-toner" mode you can set up as default. Also, the unit falls into an "energy-saver" state when it is not in use (just takes hardly a second to wake up). I would buy it again without hesitation.
