Rating: - Good home-office device
Very good product. Great balance between quality, functionality and the price. It delivers great black-and-white printing and copying and a color scan with very decent quality. It can easily competed with more expensive laser printers. But if you need high-quality scanner, you will be better off with the dedicated device. I am using it for the basic scanning and posting my old photos on the internet. For this task - it is perfect. The scanning software is not very intuitive, but when you get used to it's interface, it does a pretty good job. Overall - I like this machine. It does a very good job while taking a very little space. What else do you need for the home-office ?
Rating: - Canon MF4150 Review
After 10-15 years of only buying HP printers, I decided to go to Canon after reading the reviews. It's been a great decision, I love this laser printer. No more cheap, HP ink cartridge printers for me. This is the best deal on the market. It feels solid, it's quiet and great top-loading for faxing, copying and scanning. The Canon scan software is a light App that doesn't slow down my computer like the HP software. Great product.

Rating: - Not my best decision
I tried to do double sided copies when I first got this but it didn't work. I decided not to send it back to Amazon and gave it to a local Canon service center. They got a new unit from Canon because they couldn't get parts.
This copier now works for double sided but has streak when using top feed.
I have had this copier less than a month.
Not a good choice.
Rating: - Everything I was looking for
I have had this printer for a week so I can't attest to the long term use. But so far it does everything I expected and does it simply and well. It comes with an 8 1/2 x 11 35 page guide that makes the setup easy as pie-has pictures with the instructions so you can't miss. I got this to replace an old print only laser that finally bit the dust.
My outgoing fax worked the first try. I haven't tried PC faxing yet (sending a fax from your computer). There are 5 incoming fax modes. FAXONLY (Answers all calls as faxes), ANSMODE (for setting up with an answer machine), MANUAL (have to manually hit start), FAX/TEL (switches between fax and voice calls) and DRPD (uses distintive ring pattern from your telephone company). I set mine up as MANUAL since I rarely get incoming faxes. Receiving an incoming fax took me 5 tries because I didn't have a telephone connected to the printer phone jack (which is documented). Once I hooked the handset up it worked fine. A handset is also needed for FAX/TEL and an answering machine for ANSMODE.
I too love the duplex mode. I was impressed with the fast printing speed-even on the first copy. I haven't tried the bundled software yet, but the printer comes with ScanSoft's OmniPage which converts scanned documents and images into editable text and Presto!'s PageManager for organizing photos and documents.

I spent some time looking for a multi function printer with the options I wanted, at the price I wanted, and with good ratings. While I was looking, this printer went on sale at OfficeMax so got it for $200. Don't forget that you need a USB cord too.
Added 8-24-2008 - six months later. I liked this machine so well I bought one for our office. At the office, we use the fax and copy options. Office personnel are very happy with the performance. They especially love the document feed where we can input 20 or more documents unattended. This machine does get less milleage on the toner that our older machine.
