Rating: - Fabulous
I'm loving this keyboard - it's all the other reviews have claimed it to be; no need for me to repeat all that here.
Rating: - Beam me up
OK I'm ready for the illuminated touch-screen version! This is not an expensive keyboard if you like quality and can't afford to buy junk. If you have respect for your machine then you may feel a renewed respect after getting this keyboard.
Don't be afraid of the fancy finish, it's durable and cleans to look new easily.
Rating: - Battery failure-No problem.
I wanted a semi-basic keyboard (I have no use for a keypad) , wireless, with built-in mouse. I got it. I wanted elegant style. I got it plus it is balanced, solid and engineered by a magician. The edge is camfered, which makes it easy to pick up from a flat surface. Still no built-in lap heater however. Then disaster struck (failing batterys} so I ordered a cheaper keyboard to get by while the Edge was in the shop. I am very pleased with the corded Logitech Media Keyboard Elite. Now I use the Logitech MX 1000 Laser mouse from the stand beside my easy chair w/Elite on my lap. I sit this also very thin keyboard in the stand which comes with the Edge. Now the Edge was still waiting for a reply from Logitech regarding replacement. It struck me that I now have an unbeatable combo at my easy chair and the Edge for walking around the room in view of the 37" wide-screen LCD monitor. I can leave the Edge in the stand/charger, on display, till I pick it up (no name yet) and walk about. I may not even send it back for new batterys if it doesnt fail completely. In either case, it is no problem.
Rating: - It's beautiful, it's stylish, and it's an expensive compromise.
I bought it because I wanted a cordless/wireless keyboard with integrated mouse pad that was rechargeable and more secure than other RF devices, and I thought the stylish look would be an attractive bonus. Now that I have it, I realize that it's a dust and fingerprint magnet which makes the stylish look somewhat of a mute point. The backlit display applies only to the F1 thru F12 keys and is only lit when you press the Fn button. The light that surrounds the circular mouse pad only lights when you touch the mouse pad and immediately fades away when you're not touching it, which serves absolutely no purpose at all. The touch-sensitive volume slider is cool looking but a complete waste of space. The extra function buttons, including the backlit Fn keys are no easier to use than using a shortcut keyboard command. The circular mouse pad is too small, and I don't see any difference in the so called hyper-speed technology, then adjusting the mouse speed to maximum on any other mouse pad or device; however, I do like the fact that vertical and horizontal scrolling can be continuous by making continuous circles with your finger without lifting your finger from the pad, but how often do you really need to scroll that much at a time. Also, there is no windows `context menu' button on the keyboard, usually next to the right windows button at the right of the space bar, and there is also no Num Lock or numeric keypad other than the usual horizontal number keys just below the F-keys. It's merely a flashy and expensive toy. I'm embarassed to admit that I fell for the marketing hype on this product. The best thing about the keyboard is the precision keystroke; it types great!
