Rating: - Glad I got this product!
Got to give this product a big thumbs up! Got it to help out in our kitchen/den area. It is a complete deadzone (0 to 1 bar of signal with T-Mobile).
First thing you need to do is make sure that SOMEWHERE within reach of the cable you can get a good cell signal. This is done simply by walking around with your cell phone in hand.
I found I got 4 bars just outside the garage so I setup device and ran cable WITHOUT putting any holes in walls initially-just to make sure it worked.
Setup was quick and easy. Attach attenna to device, attached cable to device, plug device power in and vola, you are up and running. We immediately began getting 3-4 bars in the Kitchen.
Next I drilled hole in kitchen wall (be sure to look for studs before you drill), ran cable into garage, along garage wall, and then drilled hole to outside of house. After running cable, I mounted anttena to metal rain gutter using included mounting bracket (it is black while the antenna is white - that did not make any sense) which worked fine.
Whole project took about 1.5 hours to complete and I needed no hardware other than what was included in package. In addition, you need a drill and
Rating: - When you live where you need a better signal, its worth the money
Before installing
-----------------
Signal: 1 out of 5 bars (if anything)
Phone call performance: Impossible to have a conversation anywhere in the basement, even some places on the main floor
Text message performance: nearly impossible to send, sometimes received messages
After installing
----------------
Signal: 4 out of 5 bars (same as if I was outside the condo)
Phone call performance: Able to make/receive phone calls reliably anywhere in the basement (30' x 40'); signal was improved on main floor as well; 5-10% dropped calls; occasional feedback from friends that I was "breaking up" (but only occasionaly)
Text message performance: Able to make/receive txt messages reliably; occasionally get txt messages repeated 1 or 2 times.

I've had the YX510 signal booster in use for about 1 month now. I had just moved into a condo and spend a lot of time in the basement. Before I got the signal booster, I got 1 bar if anything at all and could never make or receive calls; only got lucky sending/receiving a text message once in a while. After installing the signal booster (which was very simple and easy to setup), I get 4 out of 5 bars on the signal meter on my phone! I'll tell you though that it's not perfect. I have had maybe 5-10% of my calls dropped even when it looks to be a good signal (I'm not sure what the average call drop percentage is but that seems reasonable to me no matter where I am.)
Bottom line:
All in all, I recommend this device if you spend a lot of time in a place where you don't have a great signal. It was worth the money to me to save me from the frustration of having to run outside the condo to have a phone conversation. Just my experience but hope this helps.
Rating: - Timid signal booster
The manufacturer goes through great pains to make sure the signal booster does not interfere with the normal cellular transmissions. As result, it does not really boost the signals too well.Wireless Extenders Cell Phone Signal Booster Dual Band YX510 PCS/CEL
Rating: - This is Great--Just What I Needed
We like to use our cellphones to field calls for business purposes, whether at home or out and about. Our Verizon phones work great just about everywhere else but we often dropped calls: VERY frustrating to do business that way. Signal strength was slightly better upstairs, but that wasn't very convenient.
This looked like the most cost-effective option, and the user reviews on Amazon were very helpful in the decision. An alternative would have been to wait for a Verizon femtocell, but the YX510 PCS/CEL is here today, and cheaper.
Installation is pretty straightforward. The only tricky part is to find a way to run the coaxial cable from the antenna to the repeater unit. I discovered an ABS drain vent pipe that ran from the first floor into the attic space and was able to drop a metal rod tied to the cable down along side the pipe and down to the first floor, where I could remove a can light in the kitchen to gain access to the space and pull the cable through. I drilled a hole through the ceiling into a cabinet, and mounted the repeater on the back wall of the cupboard behind some cookbooks. I also drilled a small hole to feed the power cord up into the bottom of the cabinet, so the unit itself is totally concealed.
The attic antenna I hung from the highest rafter, almost directly vertically above the repeater unit. I had some leftover cable to loop around.
[Had I not found the pipe runway, Plan B was to mount it outside on the fireplace chimney, and run the cable down the outside of the house, which would have been more work]
We've been using it for over a month now. We now have 5 bars in the kitchen area (from about 2), and 3-4 in the nearby office (from 1-2). We can make and receive calls reliably from most of the downstairs, which has made a night-and-day difference with our cellphone use. This thing is great!
