Rating: - Cell phone extender
The cell phone extender does work. I can now use my cell phone in the house. When a metal roof was installed there was absolutely no coverage in the house--now I have coverage but better in some areas of the house than others although in the farthest corner I still get one bar. I would recommend this for those having problems with reception!

An Apple addict, I had to have an IPhone. Unfortunately, due to my lower elevation brick and slate home, I had maybe a bar of service, often no bars whatsoever.
Unclear on what band the IPhone operates, I chose the dual band Wireless Extender. I installed the antenna in my attic (checking before even ordering the product for service there-I found 4 or 5 bars worth of signal) and made sure to maintain the horizontal and vertical separation required. This is key, as originally I didn't maintain the horizontal separation between the antenna and the transmitter and the unit was pretty much worthless.
I now enjoy an average of 3 bars all throughout my house. And that's huge, given the previous situation I faced.
Installation in a closet was not super easy, and I had to drill through a closet ceiling into the attic and nail down the coaxial cable and provide power (via a lightbulb socket with an added pull chain for the light) where there was none. It ain't pretty (in the closet), is well hidden in the attic (due to my attaching of the coax along the rafters), but IT WORKS. And now I got my Iphone, and no longer need to forward all calls while inside my home.
Well done, Wireless Extenders.

In installed the YX510 so that I could have better cell phone signal in my basement. This product really does work as advertised. I now have 5 bars of signal in my basement office.
I do not receive strong signal in my home, maybe 2 or sometimes 3 bars. I do not receive any signal in my basement. In my attic, on the side of my house that faces the cell tower I can get 5 bars of signal. I installed the YX510 from my attic and ran the cable down to my basement office. That did the job.
There are some considerations though. Consider the XY510 a line of sight device for signal reception. It does not go through walls well. It will regenerate signal to the device but not 2000 feet from the device as advertised. Maybe if it is an open air 2000 square feet. For example if you have a great room in your house and you put it in the middle of it, this might work for 2000sf. For me, once you get 15 feet away from the device (in a different room) the signal degrades quickly.
Otherwise it works great. It is kind of expensive but I couldn't find another product like it so I guess it is worth it.
FYI, it took me about 3 hours to install it properly running the cable up the side of the house etc.

They removed the tower that was closest to my house which changed our cell signal from 4 bars to 0. I looked all over and ran across this as a possible solution. It took a few months to find anyone that had it in stock but finally did. It was simple to install. Mounted it by out satelite dish so ran the cables down teh side of the house with the those. The trick was to keep the base unit away from anything metal. I actually mounted ours in the basement near my home-office. Now it DOES work. The only option you really have is placement. I just turned on my iphone that's setting next to me (about 12' thru a wall from the extender) and i have 5 bars. If I pick up the phone or carry it around with me it goes down to 2 bars. The problem I'm having is that it doesn't want to stay connected. Sometimes I have to turn off my iphone and turn it back on to get the extender to do it's job. I don't understand why. My wife's Treo doesn't get as good a signal. Point is it does work but I really don't see the range that they advertise or that it's able consistantly keep the signal. It's good for text and email no my phone. It's hit or miss on the actual voice communication. If I use the speaker phone it's better because I'm not moving it around. Point is it's better than nothing.
