We purchased this item to be able to get phone coverage into our company's basement rooms offices. Before installing this device we had absolutely no cell phone connections available anywhere in the basement.
We also ordered the optional internal ceiling mount antenna and we are extremely pleased with the coverage and quality of the phone connections we get with this booster. Dataphones sync email flawlessly.
We installed the external antenna 2 floors up in the rafters. This unit exceeded our expectations.

My apartment in the center of a major city is a mysterious dead zone for cell phones - all but one major carriers' signals fail to reach my living room. I can however get 2-3 bars at the windows and balcony. After doing some research I found that this is exactly the situation the Wi-Ex product is supposed to address - and it does so almost perfectly. After spending about 30 minutes mounting and connecting the parts, I am able to get 4 bars throughout the apartment! There is no noticeable difference in call quality compared to what I can get outside the apt.
I am taking 1 star off because this product has a lot of restrictions on where the antenna and receiver can be placed. Read the manufacturer's installation instructions carefully (available online) before you buy this product. My experience with the unit is that the most important factors for unit placement are: (1) location of the signal antenna. It needs to be in a place where you can decent signal. The booster doesn't seem to boost the signal beyond what you can get at the location of the antenna. (2) distance between the signal antenna and the receiver. The manual dictates a minimum distance of 15 feet.

After moving to a new house in the middle of a major city I found I had absolutely horrid verizon service inside my house, outside my house, and up to a few blocks away. I have dropped almost every call in the last 3 months and have had to rely on my fax line for outgoing calls. This was particularly annoying when talking with my boss or clients.
Much research was done to select a good product for the money. Signal levels inside house are just the tower symbol plus the dot below it. On my rooftop signal levels are the previous plus 1 bar of signal. I installed the wireless extenders product with the antenna about 8 ft higher than my rooftop. After a bunch of dickering around the system seemed to not operate properly. I called customer service and was told that there was too much signal overload from electronics or my wi-fi that interfered with the normal operation of the device. I relocated the antenna and base station again (following manufacturers guidelines) and was finally able to get a few calls to go through the device. It seemed to help a bit at first, but then I noticed that my phone only used the relay sometimes but not all the time.
Overall opinion is that unless you have much stronger signal outside versus inside the device is not worth the serious investment. They claimed that I might have just had too poor of signal to do anything with. Keep in mind that NONE of these devices BOOST or INCREASE the signal strength itself. They relay the available signal from the antenna location and re-broadcast the signal inside.... when it works properly!I have returned the device with no problems and quickly got a full refund from Amazon. I will either change carriers or wait for the femtocell technology to reach the States!
Rating: - Cell signal booster works!
Product works as advertised. Had a crappy (1 bar) connection inside my rural home. Dropped calls routinely. After installation (on my roof), I have 3-4 bars in half my 1800 sf home and 1-2 bars in other half (farthest from indoor antenna).
Haven't had a dropped call since install.
